What is Off-grid?
Living ‘off-grid’ is a spectrum and for many, it’s an evolving journey. It has no rigid rules and can mean different things to different people. For some, it means living a simple lifestyle, completely disconnected from the requirements of society, relying almost entirely on one’s own labour, being completely self sufficient.
It can also mean being able to support a comfortable lifestyle without sacrificing modern comforts, using a range of available technologies to lower your footprint and reduce your dependence on the public utility grid. It can be anything and everything in between. The underling desire to become more independent is the unifying factor no matter ‘how much’ off grid you decide to go!
